Possible Holiday Sequel in the Works…
MAY 30, 2024

Hallmark has already announced the sequel to 2022’s holiday hit Three Wise Men and a Baby, but according to Production Weekly, it looks like another movie is also getting a second act – Christmas on Cherry Lane #2 is listed in the publication’s latest issue! It’s likely that the movie is only in pre-production at this stage so hopefully a filming schedule or an official announcement from Hallmark will confirm some sort of sequel is on the way.

Hallmark’s Christmas in July Preview
MAY 28, 2024

Hallmark just released their preview for Christmas in July which reveals two brand new movies will premiere in July! One appears to star Marcus Rosner and Rebecca Dalton and the other Ryan McPartlin and Katie LeClerc. Hopefully both of these movies will also premiere in Canada!

Ryan McPartlin shared a few shots from the making of his movie on Instagram back in March. Check out the post here! According to IMDb, the movie is called “Love is Brewing” but that may be a working title that could be changed.

Marcus Rosner also shared a photo on his Instagram while filming his movie in Ottawa back in February. See the post here! Based on this, it looks like the movie was directed by Maxwell McGuire and going by production schedules from Ontario, “Chasing Snowflakes” from Fireside Pictures seems to line up but the title is still unconfirmed at this time.

And below is the 2024 Christmas in July preview from Hallmark:

More New Hallmark Movies in Production
MAY 18, 2024

Filming recently began on Hallmark’s My Dreams of You in Ottawa, ON. According to Casting Workbook, the movie draws on the ethereal element of dreams and what happens when struggling writer Grace is accidentally introduced to the man of her dreams Michael. Kevin Fair is listed as director and filming is scheduled to wrap up on June 4th.

According to ACTRA Manitoba, filming for Autumn at Apple Hill from Hallmark and Manzana Pictures is slated to begin in June in Winnipeg, MB. Directed by Sean Geraughty, the movie looks to be an adaptation of the novel by Angie Ellington which tells the story of Elise, who has inherited the Apple Hill Inn from her grandmother, and Luke, the mysterious guest who stays there.

In Vancouver, BC, Junebug is scheduled to film from May 21st to June 19th on UBCP ACTRA production lists. There is no confirmation that this is a Hallmark movie but Hallmark veteran David Weaver is directing and Antonio Cupo and Stephen Harmaty, who have collaborated on a number of Hallmark movies, are listed as executive producers.

MAY 27, 2024

Autumn Reeser recently shared news on Instagram that production just got underway on a new project with screenwriter Summer Isreal Johnson. The title was not announced but Johnson’s writing accolades and the production timeline suggest the movie is Junebug which (if correct) according to the post, will air on Hallmark Channel this August.

New Mysteries in Production
MAY 14, 2024

Two new mysteries are currently listed as in production:

In production in BC is Engaged to be Murdered, set to shoot from May 22nd to June 7th. Just based on the title, this sounds like something that would land on Lifetime (in fact, there was a movie of the same title that aired on Lifetime in 2023) but according to the DGC, this is a Hallmark Mystery original to be directed by David I. Strasser. IMDb company credits for the movie also list Hallmark Mystery as a distributor for the movie, and indicate it is a Muse Entertainment production. The synopsis for the movie on IMDb reads: “Local advice columnist with knowledge of town’s secrets gets entangled in a murder case, clashing with the detective leading the investigation.” This is likely a working title and will be changed post production.

Set to film in Toronto, ON in June is Mistletoe Murders. ACTRA Toronto notes this is a series set to film from June 3rd to July 31st. This looks to be an adaptation of the Audible original series of the same name by Ken Cuperus which centers around the life of Emily Lane, the owner of a Christmas-themed store in the quaint town of Fletcher’s Grove who has a knack for solving mysteries. The DGC notes that Grant Harvey is the director and though there has been no official announcement about the series and what network it is being developed for, FTIA’s productionlist.com lists it as a Crown Media production.
