In September, Great American Family announced a second season of When Hope Calls, set to premiere in early 2025. Super Channel has now announced that this new season will premiere in Canada on Heart & Home in the first quarter of 2025. The When Calls the Heart spin-off follows two sisters who open an orphanage in the frontier town of Brookfield. The first season aired in 2019, followed by a two-part Christmas special in 2021, with no word on the future of the series until recently.
Filming for the new eight-season season is now underway in Ontario. As previously announced, new to the cast for Season 2 are Cindy Busby as Nora, Christopher Russell as Constable Michael Fletcher, and Nick Bateman as Wyatt. Returning to reprise their roles are Morgan Kohan as Lilian, Wendy Crewson as Tess, Hanneke Talbot as Maggie, and Ryan-James Hatanaka as Mountie Gabriel. Trevor Donovan was also added to the cast, set to appear in two-episode arc as Constable Mountie Jim Reynolds.
According to the press release from Super Channel: “In the second season, viewers will follow the romance of Lillian and Mountie Gabriel, and meet new characters who are important for the orphanage and children, the sprawling farmlands, and of Brookfield. Plus, a new Constable from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Mountie Michael comes to town.”
